The Westminster Club began in 1968 as the Westminster Boys Club and changed its name to the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster in 1972. In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the critical after school hours. It is at these times that many young people become introduced to or participate in unhealthy activities. To combat this, the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster provides services to these youth to offer a healthy alternative.
Four key characteristics define the essence of a Boys & Girls Club. All are critical in exerting a positive impact on the life of a child. 1. Dedicated Youth Facility. Our Club is a place, an actual neighborhood-based building, designed solely for youth programs and activities. 2. Open Daily Our Club is open Monday - Friday, after school and during the summer, when kids have free time and need positive, productive outlets. 3. Professional Staff Our Club has full-time, trained youth development professionals, providing positive role models and mentors. Volunteers provide key supplementary support. 4. Available/Affordable to All Youth We reach out to kids who cannot afford, or may lack access to, other community programs. Dues are low: - $30 membership per Westminster School Distrcit school calendar year;
- $65 per week for the Summer Fun Club
